Empowering Women and Communities: The Jungle Mamas Experience –

Margaret Love is a Pachamama donor and retired midwife, who traveled to the Amazon rainforest with The Pachamama Alliance in 2006. On that trip, Achuar men and women talked with Margaret about their lack of prenatal care, and their concern for the health of their women and babies. Out of that trip, Margaret’s passion led to the creation of the Jungle Mamas Program, the goal of which is to empower indigenous women and their communities, to ensure safe birthing and the health and wellbeing of the Achuar people.
